Our Patron Saint

A doyen in the field of education, Mathaji Chellammal as she is still known to many, had spent more than 62 years of her life for the cause of education. A strict disciplinarian, who made every child understand the importance of duties and rights, along with a sense of responsibility. Mathaji Chellammal excelled in any task she was associated with whether it was teaching, social service or administration. From 1940 to 1969, as the headmistress of Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls Higher Secondary School, Mathaji Chellammal ensured offering the children a holistic education where personality and character developed.

Our beginning

The Chellammal Education Society was established on 04-03-1969 to honour Mathaji, when she retired as the Headmistress of Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls Higher Secondary School. The Hindu Colony Chellammal Vidyalaya was started in 1984 by the Chellammal Education Society to honour the golden jubilee of the service of Mathaji Chellammal.

Our Climate

The school enjoys an open climate where teachers work as a strong unit respecting that task without bickering and gripping. There is very less emotional distance between the staff and the leader as well as among the staff members. They take pride in being a part and parcel of the organization.

The Vision

Our attempt is to create a right environment and help the teacher and the taught to learn without fear and hesitation. Together they explore. The student is encouraged to observe his/her own thinking, behaviour and motivation. A feeling of care and concern for mankind and environment is awakened in the student. Ability to relate rightly.
